“WE BELIEVE THAT THE ART OF FILM IS AS MUCH ABOUT THE MIND AS IT IS ABOUT THE CAMERA. OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE THE SUPPORT THAT CREW MEMBERS DESERVE UNDER THE HIGH PRESSURE OF PRODUCTION.”
The Pressure
Film and TV sets operate under extreme time constraints and creative high stakes, leading to burnout, social isolation, and chronic stress for both crew and talent.
Why mental health in film and TV CAN'T wait
The UK and Ireland film, television, and cinema industries are experiencing a growing mental health crisis that poses significant risks to workforce wellbeing, productivity, and long-term sustainability.
The likelihood of a mental health problem in the sector is three times that of the general population.
Mind Stage implements a comprehensive mental health support framework designed specifically for professionals working across film, television, and cinema in the Northern Ireland and Ireland. The proposed solution integrates preventative strategies, on-set support and training to create a more resilient and sustainable workforce.
The Solution
Mind Stage integrates clinical mental health expertise directly into production, providing immediate evidence-based care and proactive wellbeing strategies.
The Impact
Healthy crew members deliver superior creative results. By mitigating risks and protecting Duty of Care, we ensure sustainable productions that thrive.
Our Purpose
Mind Stage services will aim to address high rates of poor mental health, suicidality, burnout, and workplace-related distress.
The service will provide mental health screening and risk management; on-set mental health support including health promotion, early intervention and crisis interventions. The aim is to improve workforce wellbeing, reduce attrition, and promote psychologically safe working environments.
By addressing mental health proactively, this initiative aims not only to improve individual wellbeing but also to enhance productivity, reduce absenteeism and staff turnover, and strengthen industry standards by promoting psychologically safe working environments. Mind Stagepositions mental health support as both an ethical responsibility and a strategic investment in the future of the screen industries.
